Intranet for cross-site communication
More Than Just a Fresh Coat of Paint
The Robert Bosch Foundation is one of the largest corporate-affiliated foundations in Europe. It operates as a nonprofit, independent, and nonpartisan organization in the areas of health, education, and global issues. As the primary internal communication channel, the intranet connects the entire workforce.
The foundation first introduced its new corporate design on the intranet. Employees were to be the first target audience to experience it before it became visible on external channels. But we didn’t stop at simply transferring the design: We fundamentally redesigned the homepage—the entry point for internal communication—to make the user experience clearer and more intuitive.
Workshop, Concept Development, Implementation
A creative workshop kicked things off. Together with the Robert Bosch Stiftung, we gathered requirements and functions, took the new corporate design into account, and developed a structure for the homepage with a clear prioritization of content.
Based on this, we designed the screen layout for the homepage, navigation, and quick access section in the new corporate design. This included:
- a redesigned news slider that makes all news items more visible,
- a filter function for the slider,
- improved discoverability of valuable content and the people behind it
The UEBERBIT team modernized the front end and gave it a visual refresh. An additional slider highlights the people behind the foundation and brings employees closer together, as they can discover not only new faces but also shared interests (visible via hashtags).
Clearer, More Relevant, More Personal
The new homepage of the Robert Bosch Stiftung intranet guides employees directly to the information relevant to their work—and also offers numerous insights into the projects, the workforce, and valuable pointers to the treasures the intranet has to offer. Throughout the intranet, the tone is now more personal; the form of address has been changed from “Sie” to “Du”—as is now part of the foundation’s culture—and the wording in the headlines has been adapted.
The Robert Bosch Stiftung’s intranet is a prime example of a user-oriented solution that continuously adapts to the organization’s needs. Even beyond the foundation’s two locations in Stuttgart and Berlin and its various departments, the platform fosters exchange and encourages active feedback.
Our collaboration with UEBERBIT was once again characterized by a deep understanding of our needs and culture. The result is a new homepage that not only looks more modern but also connects and informs our employees even better in their day-to-day work.
