Brand Hub Based on Open Source

The Brand Hub showcases the entire corporate design and identity universe of Heidelberg Materials and makes it accessible worldwide—from the brand guidelines to the media library.

To ensure that Heidelberg Materials presents a consistent image worldwide, a central point of contact is needed for all corporate design and identity guidelines. The Brand Hub fulfills this role: It consolidates all brand guidelines for every location and makes the appropriate assets available in a media library.

Until now, the platform was based on a custom-developed SaaS solution. This resulted in annual license fees and additional costs per user. The more locations and teams used the Brand Hub, the higher the expenses became. In addition, the platform was tied to a single provider’s roadmap and terms.

From SaaS to Open Source

In 2025, the decision was made to technically revamp the Brand Hub—using Drupal. UEBERBIT planned and implemented the new platform.

The goal was a Brand Hub that offers all the features of the previous SaaS version but operates independently of licenses and third-party providers. User-friendliness in the backend was particularly important: editors should be able to create and maintain new pages more easily—on an open, flexibly expandable platform.

With the go-live of the base version, the first milestone has been reached. Additional features and further developments will follow in the next phases.

Full functionality, without reliance on licenses

The new Drupal-based Brand Hub fully displays Heidelberg Materials’ brand guidelines and media library—all while operating on a significantly leaner budget. There are no more high license fees or user-based costs: The investment will pay for itself in less than three years compared to the previous SaaS solution. Editorial work has become easier and more efficient.

For Heidelberg Materials, this means, above all, digital autonomy over a central pillar of brand management—independent of individual providers and their pricing models.

Our Brand Hub is designed for growth—in terms of its capabilities, not its costs. We can continue to develop it to meet our needs and integrate it into our workflows as a source of knowledge and governance—AI-ready, without vendor lock-in, and supported by our long-standing partner, UEBERBIT.
