With its main medium now in digital space, the rnv regional public transportation company is revamping its design specifications for its corporate website – the focus is now on mobile usage and optimal usability while underway.

Every workday, around one-half million passengers are on the move using the transport network of the Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (rnv). For its target group, the most important mobility service provider in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region operates a service website that applies responsive web design (RWD) principles and is based on TYPO3. It is an essential component of the overarching brand strategy of our customer of many years.


Keeping the focus on the customers’ needs

Within the framework of their brand strategy, the rnv follows the motto »Digital first« and acts correspondingly by making communication on the web a priority. In the course of relaunching the website, it was thoroughly realigned to the information requirements of passengers. To ascertain those requirements, we carried out a web analysis beforehand as well as a perspective consideration of the end device usage.

During the set-up of the web pages, we employed wireframes as a preliminary design stage tool. We used the Foundation CSS framework when designing the user interface of the responsive web application. We additionally created an online style guide including an image concept that the rnv utilizes for corporate design compliant usage of photos and other images in their media mix.
