Ensuring business success: Early user testing as the basis for design and development

The success of a new website or intranet depends on how well users accept it. Even the most beautiful design and state-of-the-art technologies are of little use if users are dissatisfied. Negative user experiences often lead to them avoiding the platform. Obtaining feedback at an early stage saves time and money.
Developing user-centered concepts
Usability problems are easier to fix at the beginning of a project than later in the development process. That's why we test as early as the conception or design phase in order to implement improvements efficiently and in a resource-saving manner. User feedback helps us develop concepts that enable quick decisions and avoid unnecessary loops.
Applications with an optimal user experience
- are used more frequently and for longer periods of time,
- strengthen the company's image,
- and convey important content and messages.
Thorough analysis of user feedback also pays off in project work. It ensures more satisfied and creative teams.
At UEBERBIT, we use design platforms such as Figma to transform wireframes into clickable prototypes. Without any development effort, we create interactions that users can click through and scroll through. This allows us to bring initial animations, hover effects, and basic functions to life—ideal for analyzing user experiences.
We test complex or unusual functions in moderated user tests. To do this, we develop one or two relevant scenarios to find out whether our concept solves a problem or makes everyday life easier for users. We then define what information and interactions the test subjects need to understand the functions. We select the test subjects based on the personas we created earlier. Just five of them reveal most of the problems on a page.
Before moderated tests, we create an interview guide. In it, we note down basic information that users need for the scenario and formulate precise, open-ended questions. User flows visualize user interaction with the system and help us to equip the wireframes with the necessary click paths.
To understand the answers in context, we send out a questionnaire in advance. This collects demographic data and, depending on the project, information on competing products or application scenarios.
How you can benefit from the findings
During our tests, a member of the UX/UI team acts as moderator. They guide the interviewees through the interview and give them space to explore the application, ask questions, and make mistakes. This allows us to gain valuable insights into user behavior. We then analyze the results:
- Where did the participants take longer than expected?
- Which questions came up frequently?
- Did they choose different paths than expected?
- What did they like?
- We use these findings to derive specific adjustments for the concept.
Our method has proven itself time and again, as one customer confirmed:

"Together with the UEBERBIT team, we were able to develop a detailed click dummy from our initial concept for a regional information and service platform and implement a matching screen design. Our pilot partners were involved in the implementation, and a user test was carried out at a later stage. Thank you for the successful and professional collaboration!"

Moderated user tests with wireframes help identify problems early on and plan the next steps with confidence. After launch, they reveal potential for a better user experience. However, they are only one of many ways to gather feedback from users.
